Vancouver island is the largest of North America's west coast islands, stretching almost 500 kilometers from north to south, with a population of around 500,000 inhabitants. Its main attractions are whale-watching, the beaches at Parksville and Qualicum, the stunning seascapes at the Pacific Rim National Park, hiking activities in the West Coast Trail national park and Juan de Fuca Trail and a great variety of bus and boat trips for exploring the region.
