Chinatown in Vancouver

Posted 1 year ago by musketeer in response to michele's question: Anyone has been to Chinatown in Vancouver? (give a different answer) .

I would say that Chinatown in Vancouver is pretty much a city within a city. Virtually every building imitates a Chinese or Eastern model and Chinese is spoken everywhere in preference to English. Besides the astonishing culinary diversity, Chinatown will amaze you with the various shops and the traditional apothecaries and herbalists who claim to heal every known ailment. There is an open-air night market starting at around 6pm during summers and there is no limit to what can be bought and sold there. I wouldn't go anywhere near the isolated and narrow streets at night, since crime has never been really eradicated in Chinatown.
