Just like in many other tourist locations in Alberta, Banff fills up very easy in the summer and the only vacancies left are the most expensive ones. If you ignore he hotels and motels, which are crowded and pretty expensive, you can choose private rooms or B&Bs. They are not cheaper, but they are more readily available, spacious, placed in central locations and usually include a breakfast.
